Maryland Crab Cakes Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb crab meat (16 oz)

  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire

  • 1 tsp dry mustard

  • 2 tsp Old Bay (or salt)

  • 1/4 tsp pepper


Preparation:

Remove all cartilage from the crabmeat. In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs egg, mayo, seasonings and crabmeat, gently but thoroughly. If the mix is too dry add more mayo. Shape into cakes in preferred sizes.

Cook the cakes in frying pan with just enough oil to prevent sticking until browned about 5 min on each side.  If desired, crab cakes may be deep fried instead at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes.


Other stuff:

Easy to make tarter sauce is a snap!  Mix mayonnaise and sweet pickle relish in a 3:1 ratio.  Add a touch of horseradish sauce.

Seafood sauce?  No problem.  Ketchup, horseradish to taste, tsp of Worcestershire Sauce, 1/2 tsp of Old Bay or seasoned salt.
